Ian Cameron, Director
Ian Cameron is currently Director at ACR and Principal Consultant at Ian Cameron & Associates, a tourism and marketing consultancy specialising in both inbound and outbound travel between Australia and Asia.
He has over forty years’ experience in government and private sector tourism and has held management positions both in Australia and overseas in retail, product development, inbound and Olympic tourism and special event marketing areas.
Prior to establishing the Consultancy in September 2012, Ian was the Manager, International Operations with the New South Wales state government’s tourism and events marketing organisation – Destination NSW. His responsibilities included the management of strategic and tactical marketing plans, including both consumer and trade marketing activity, in the key international markets of Europe, the United States, Asia, Japan and New Zealand. He was also responsible for six overseas offices as well as the head office International Operations Unit.
Ian is a former Chairman of the New South Wales Branch of ATEC and a former Chairman of the Sydney Canberra Chapter of PATA. He currently holds the position of Co-Chairman of the Australia India travel and Tourism Council.
In his capacity as Principal Consultant, Ian has recently participated with an international team of tourism consultants tasked with advising the Philippines Department of Tourism on a tourism recovery strategy following the earthquake of October 2013 and super cyclone Haiyan of November 2013.
Ian has also advised AYM Golf Tours, Helen Wong Tours, the LEK consultancy re the Sydney Airport Corporation Limited, Caravan and Camping Industry Association NSW and TAFE NSW - Sydney Institute.
